As the second half of the
first decade in a new
millennium opens, the art
print market, like many
others, finds itself in sea
changes. Its likely the
proportions of many of
these changes will not be
known for some time.
Still, some developments
are obvious.
The art print business will
always begin with artists
having the confidence in

grow. More artists and
galleries are responding to
lower prices on digital
printing equipment to
print their own pieces.

printers are becoming
more common. Mamika
has introduced new white
ink. Epson launched it
UtlraGiclee program that
warrants from noticeable
aging for 80 years.
Vignettes Art announced
their work to seek markets
for it. As every successful
artist and publisher
knows, effectively getting
the work to market is a
separate function from
making art. It is one,
however, that requires as
much diligence, and
planning and consistent
application to bear fruit as
it does to create
the Rigiclée process.
Image Wizards is offering
prints on aluminum and
wood up to 4 x 8 sheets.
Some high output digital
ateliers are testing a new
high-speed extra wide
digital printer, which
could have implications
for the poster and canvas
